Headwaters Adventure Day Camp

The popular summer day camp program at Mt. Shasta City Park is for kids ages 5-12.  Activities run from June 20 through August 5.

  • Sign-Ups begin June 1st at Recreation Office/MS City Park (10-4pm) 926-2494.
  • Weekly Camp Fee: $65.00 for the first child & $55.00 for each additional child.
  • Daily Schedule: 9 am – 2 pm: Monday – Friday
  • Camp Headquarters at the Arts & Craft Building (drop-off & pick-up)
  • Parent drivers will be needed for off-site field trips.
  • Bring a lunch unless otherwise notified.
  • Camp Attire: Play clothes, closed toed shoes (no sandals or flip-flops please).

Summer 2011 Schedule

Week 1: June 20-24 - “Summer Kick-Off Mystery Week”
Calling all detectives! It is time to put your Sherlock skills to use for a week full of sleuthing, mystery solving, and surprises! Join us as we interrogate mystery guests, play fun games, crack clues, and go on thrilling adventures! Reward: BBQ Lunch @ City Park

Week 2: June 27th - July 1st: “Popular Science”
Chemical reactions, fizzing experiments, Mother Nature, what more could a scientist ask for! Join us this week as we conduct cool experiments, make yummy snacks, test hypotheses, brave the elements, and get our hands dirty with gardening!

4th of July Parade: “Bears, Bears, Bears, and more Bears!”
The counselors are putting together an awesome float for any campers who want to participate in the 4th of July Parade! We would love to have any camper join us. Sign-up when registering at the office.

Week 3: July 11th -15th: “Around the World in…5 days!”
So much to do, so much to see, so little time! During the week we will be visiting various countries from around the world! Come explore with us as we test-taste foreign treats, play cultural games, dance to new music, and make neat arts and crafts. Friday we will have a huge carnival celebration known as la Feria! You don’t want to miss it!

Week 4: July 18th – 22nd: “Greek Olympics”
It’s sports week with a new twist! This week we will put your mental and physical strength to the test in a competition for gold, glory, and goodies! We will be playing all your favorite sports, having races and relays, enjoying team camaraderie, and a BIG SPLASH pool party on Friday! Camp will be held at Shastice Park.

Week 5: July 25th – 29th: “Where the Wild Things Are”
Get ready for the experience of a lifetime! We will spend all day outside playing, running, and getting messy! We will be learning various wilderness tips from local community members, as well as camping in the City Park. Thursday and Friday we will head out to Lake Siskiyou for more day camp fun (9-2)!

Week 6: Aug 1st-5th: “HydroMania!”
You’re not wet yet, but you will be! Join us for a week of water balloon tosses, water games, slip n’ slides, sprinklers and so much more! We will use water to create awesome art, learn the importance of water conservation, and take a deeper peak into our very own headwaters! You do not want to miss our Friday trip to Water Works Park, a great way to end the summer! Extra Fee – $15.00
